Quick Answer

This workflow contains three different calibrations: camera imaging, the relationship between image and machine motion at calibrated height planes, and the nozzle-to-image reference. A full camera and motion calibration is an installation or service task after relevant optical, mechanical or motion-setting changes—not a daily startup step. A nozzle or mixing-tube change normally calls for nozzle reference correction while the existing camera and motion calibration remains valid. Plane 1 and Plane 2 are different workpiece-height planes, not two worktables.

Before You Start

  • This procedure is for trained setup personnel using the supplied calibration target and the matching QZ software version.
  • Confirm camera mounting, focus, lighting, motion parameters and the calibration target are stable. Clear the work area and disable resin delivery.
  • Measure the real reference and product heights with the approved tool; do not copy the sample height displayed in a manual screenshot.
  • If only the nozzle or mixing tube changed, confirm the existing camera/motion calibration remains valid and perform the nozzle-reference part only.
  • Use the low-speed approach and clearance rules from the delivered training whenever the target or nozzle is near a surface.

Camera and Machine-Motion Calibration

  1. Enter the camera parameters supplied for the installed lens and camera. Adjust exposure so the calibration target is clear without losing its edges.
  2. Move the target through multiple positions across the working field and capture it at each position. For the shown software, the source manual specifies at least 15 captures distributed over roughly three-quarters of the field, then Camera Correction.
  1. Install the motion-calibration target parallel to the work surface. For Plane 1, pick the base position, pick the first workpiece-height position, enter the measured target thickness and save it.
  2. After the height is picked, do not change Z during that plane’s XY calibration. Save the required field positions, define the target match and run the Plane 1 correction.
  3. For Plane 2, use the second relevant workpiece height—typically the highest approved product height for the delivered setup—not a second worktable. Repeat the plane correction at that height.
  4. After the required planes are valid, select Calculate Calibration. Treat any displayed correction error as a calibration diagnostic only; it is not a promise of dispensing accuracy.

Both height planes are shown as calibrated. The 5.00 sample-height value is only the manual’s example.

Nozzle Alignment After Calibration

  1. Remove the calibration target and install the real nozzle or mixing tube.
  2. Enter the measured height of the actual sample/reference surface and apply Set Sample Height.
  3. Choose a distinct point, move the nozzle tip to that point using the trained low-speed approach, and save Mechanical Position Confirmation.

  1. In the camera image, click the same physical feature and select Image Reference Position.
  2. Use the delivery acceptance procedure to check representative positions and heights before returning to production. Do not let a displayed calibration value replace a real nozzle-position check.

The image reference must mark the same physical point used for the nozzle mechanical position.

Completion Checkpoints

  • The camera target is clear and the required distributed captures complete successfully.
  • Plane 1 and Plane 2 correspond to documented workpiece heights, not left and right worktables.
  • Z remained unchanged during each plane’s XY correction after the height was picked.
  • The nozzle mechanical reference and image reference use the same physical point.
  • Representative position checks meet the delivered acceptance criteria without unexpected Z movement or collision risk.

Stop and Contact Robota When

  • The calibration target cannot be recognized consistently or the camera image changes after the mount is left untouched.
  • The required plane heights, target thickness or installed camera parameters are uncertain.
  • Nozzle alignment varies substantially across the working field or between approved heights.
  • The software interface, calibration target or machine hardware differs from this tutorial.
